Speeding In Crieff
I read somewhere that Crieff came top in the country for the number of people who loose thier license and get stopped for speeding. I feel that is a reflection of the lack of traffic control in this village.
Suggestion
I often hear there are less bobbies on the beat because they are doing paperwork. I'm not sure about this but I do know that I never see you! I don't know what you look like. Is the police station in Crieff open? It looks closed to look at.

Police Response: Re: Speeding In Crieff
Hi Ailsa,
Police are aware and this has been mentioned at Community Council meetings. Speeding and parking was also highlighted as a major community concern in their recent local community survey.
We do and will continue to carry out speed checks in all villages including Muthill.
Kind regards,
Morven.

Police Response: Re: Speeding In Crieff
Hello Wattie,
We have some very keen traffic orientated officers working in Crieff would regularily take out the speed gun and issue tickets for speeding and many other offences including not wearing seatbelts. Just the other week a local man was stopped twice in 3 days for driving whilst using his mobile phone, this cost him a total of £120 and 6 points. The officers are instructed to carry out traffic patrols when not attending calls or dealing with incidents.
As with all jobs paperwork needs to be completed to ensure reports go promptly to the Procurator Fiscal, social work and the other agencies we are partnered with. All officers fit this in around attending calls and patrolling.
Crieff office is a small office and is open to the public Monday - Friday 10am - 6pm when there is a civilian member of staff to anwser the phone and deal with enquiries at the front desk. Police officers work from Crieff station 24/7. They anwser calls from beyond St Fillans, Braco, Crieff, and up to Burnbrae. I am sure you would agree the best use of resourses would not be having a police officer in the office to anwser the front door 24/7 they are better utilised out helping the public. There is a phone outside the front door which puts you straight through to a police operator so you can always speak to someone. Any urgent matters will always be dealt with and we can attend at your home address if you wish to report something.
Hope this clarifies all your points.
Regards, Morven.

Comment: Re: Speeding In Crieff
Hi Morven
We are in Muthill and I was interested to hear about the police in Crieff being keen to enforce the law when it comes to speeding cars etc. We have a big problem with speeding cars at the Stirling end of our village. Cars regularly come into the village at 60 and don't begin to hit the brakes until the bend, 200 metres into the village. This is not just speeding - it's very dangerous driving, especially with the houses in Muthill being so close to the road.
Can you tell me if the police are aware of the problem and what steps will be taken to enforce the speed limit.
many thanks

" The officers are instructed to carry out traffic patrols when not attending calls or dealing with incidents"
Why do they not get out on foot and meet the public in the town, or does that not provide statisticts to show how hard they are working. The public continually complain amongst themselves about incidents but do not want to formally contact the Police. They will however mention it to an officer they know if the speak to him in the passing. The problem is that those who Police the town more often than not dont stay in the town and dont mix with the locals, and you will never meet them walking the beat as they are all out on Traffic Patrols
Get walking, Get speaking, Get information and intelligence.
